A Day in the Life of a Remember Me Senior Care Team MembeR
Exciting, genuinely warm, and flexible careers in senior living are abundant across the U.S.
And if you’re considering a career path - or career change - to senior living, you probably have a list of questions regarding the daily work routine.
Day-to-day commitments in assisted living and memory care communities vary depending on the specific role, time of day, and type of community one’s employed at.
But regardless of the type of work environment, caregivers are given the opportunity each day to make a difference in the life of an aging senior.
At Remember Me Senior Care, located in Cleveland, Tennessee, our farmhouse-themed neighborhood is a stark contrast to traditional senior living communities. The unique setting is welcoming for residents, their families, and team members alike.
Our approach to care comes from our mission to provide a culture of care we would want for our own loved ones. Both guests and team members are treated with kindness and respect from sun up to sun down.
Whether you are looking for the next right step in your career in nursing, culinary, wellness, activities or administration, our mission is executed through every team member at Remember Me. Take a look at how our mission is integrated through the daily schedule and tasks of a Remember Me team member.
“Our culture at Remember Me Senior Care is to be the family for these residents and families that walk them through this process and journey that they’re taking.”
- Tracy Sneed, Co-Owner
Morning Shift
From assisting residents out of bed in preparation for the day ahead, to a simple morning greeting, the team sets the tone for the residents’ day.
Caregivers help residents navigate through morning decisions; assisting them in deciding what to wear, or what exciting activities to take part in for the day.
And RMSC’s team-driven approach to care means you’ll be in good company.
Professional chefs prepare home-cooked, southern style, nutritious meals that are pleasantly accepted by happy residents, while resident assistants aid with activities of daily living in the resident’s cozy, home-like environment.

Afternoon Shift
After lunch, the afternoon is all about engagement!
During this time, caregivers assist with basic needs and provide companionship to residents. Companionship can look like a variety of things, but it can especially be seen through our daily activities. These activities are personalized and individualized to the resident’s interests and cognitive abilities.
And with a constantly evolving activities calendar, there’s plenty to keep residents engaged and entertained.
Outside courtyards, pavilions, and common areas provide an array of choices for activities, socializing, and relaxing.
Thankfully, with our one staff per six resident ratio, there’s no need to worry about an overwhelming amount of duties or rushing across the neighborhood to fulfill unexpected obligations.
Remember Me Senior Care’s decentralized, open-home environment means caregivers can provide attention and feel more involved than they might in a traditional senior setting with long hallways of apartments and segregated dining and activities rooms.
Caregivers feel refreshed by RMSC’s ‘neighborhood’ atmosphere; perfect for an outdoor stroll with residents or gathering for lemonade on the front porch.

Certified Nursing Assistant vs. Resident Assistant
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA): Becoming a CNA requires completing a certified educational program. Depending on the state, this consists of a training program, as well as a series of exams.
Resident Assistants (RA): RAs are health aides that provide general care in a community. Becoming a resident assistant requires a high school education or equivalent.
Evening Shift
Caregivers assist as residents wind down and relax during the evening shift, but only after everyone has enjoyed a delicious dinner.
Our family-style open kitchen provides a time for fellowship for both team members and residents alike. At Remember Me Senior Care, residents are even provided opportunities to join the culinary team in meal preparation and light cleanup.
After dinner, caregivers help residents prepare for a great night's rest.
This might include making sure residents are full and fed, that they have taken their medications, are comfortable, their room is tidy, laundry is folded and put away, and common areas are cleaned and ready for the morning staff.
Common Responsibilities for Evening Shift Caregivers:
Assist with grooming and bathing
Provide medication assistance
Help maneuver residents to prevent bed sores
Support residents with nighttime anxiety
